Bangladesh's Child Helpline 1098 is a nationwide toll-free child-protection service operated under the Department of Social Services with UNICEF support.

When 1098 may be relevant

The official service is designed for child-protection concerns.

  • Violence or physical harm involving a child.
  • Abuse, exploitation, or a serious protection concern.
  • A child or another person seeking help on the child's behalf.
  • Situations where the caller needs guidance on a child-protection pathway.

If you call

Share the minimum facts needed to explain the concern.

  • What is happening and why the child may be unsafe.
  • Where the child is now, if location is relevant to immediate protection.
  • Whether the danger is happening right now.
  • How the caller can be contacted if follow-up is necessary and safe.

Urgent danger

Do not wait for an informational website.

If a child has a medical emergency or is in immediate danger, seek the appropriate emergency response immediately. Caira cannot assess or manage emergencies.
